It wont be affordable when all is said and done after Republicans keep hamstringing ACA and saying "it's dying". Of course it's "dying" you ignorant fucks, you're killing it piecemeal(me to them). Projections already are it is 10% higher than it was after all their bullshit. I seen a spike when I signed up this year.

Anyway back to NN. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole "repeal NN = makes more competition". They just sat on their(our 400billion too) money, they didn't even use it to upgrade things unless forced to. The ISP's do not want competition, they do everything they can to stop that. Which is goddamned ironic that we're capitalistic and ideas thrive with competition.

Did you know that Google was trying to get "competitive" in Tennessee, and Comcast/AT&T hampered Google Fiber for two years? In the end they they upgraded their own stuff to fiber while Google lagged behind in the courts. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/11/att-and-comcast-win-lawsuit-they-filed-to-stall-google-fiber-in-nashville/

Here's another form of hampering they're doing in Tennessee over "competition": https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/3d98mw/tennessee-could-give-taxpayers-americas-fastest-internet-for-free-but-it-will-give-comcast-and-atandt-dollar45-million-instead So stupid to lobby all these laws and fuck over customers...and get yourself paid 45million to install shitty infrastructure in leiu of fiber that would've costed tax payers nothing.

These idiots have been doing/trying for a long time to make it so local municipalities/states cannot have their own ISP's. They were going to sneak one into the books this last time around, but I didn't see it actually make it? They've tried here though: https://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/2017-2018/billintroduced/House/pdf/2017-HIB-5099.pdf

Look at how much this Blackburn woman was on the take for trying this shit($379,650 she was paid off with in total): https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/07/congresswoman-defends-states-rights-to-protect-isps-from-muni-competition/
Here's another article based on the last link: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/04/state-laws-that-ban-municipal-internet-will-be-invalidated-fcc-chair-says/

Joetorp man, Shai said Trump is removing all Obama rules, which is true about net neutrality, you're the one who brought up ObamaCare as an argument to repeal Net Neutrality.

Anyway, I was trying to get a reasonable explanation to NOT wanting Net neutrality. Found none !

you WANT to pay for the internet like you pay for grocery

you WANT carriers blocking whatever content they want

you WANT start-up companies to die before they see the light cause they can't promote their traffic

you WANT your bill multiplied by paying once for the service and 100 times for each "bundle"

you WANT to priorities your internet use because carriers want it (soon you will have to choose to Game in April and Chat in August cause that's how you can afford your internet bundles lol)

you WANT the internet to be controlled by governments, and not be free

...

All the above are negatives about repealing Net Neutrality in my eyes, and somehow positives in yours.

THE ONLY positive thing about repealing NN is not meant to benefit people. THE ONLY "positive" is that carriers get to "not allow his traffic in my lines" . If you only knew how funny it is what they are asking for Joe, I really wish you knew...

This article came out today, after my last post: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/12/obama-didnt-force-fcc-to-impose-net-neutrality-investigation-found/

"Because the FCC is an independent regulatory agency, it is to remain free from undue influence," the IG report said. "The Commission must, from the very nature of its duties, act with entire impartiality."

What in the holy hell are these idiots doing? "impartiality" is a joke coming on the heels of that repeal by the FCC...that most people didn't want. :/

Cam, the economy has been on the upswing since 9/11. It got so low, it had nowhere to go but up. Google is your friend.

Also, the funny thing about "removing what obama did", if you had read my last post with that link, you'd find a pretty interesting point to that article. Obama didn't make Net Neutrality. It was made by the FCC after hearing all of the complaints, and then all of the consumer advocates getting Obama involved. He made that speech, they included that into their record.

Oh, and enjoy your new year's ISP hikes(for the same shit we've already got) revealed today: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2017/12/19/comcast-cox-frontier-net-neutrality/

Anyone use Comcast too? They're so generous to our elected officials to the tune of $31,986,168.38. Yet, they rip us off infrastructure money and jack up prices. All hail the corporations(that Republicans allowed to be classed as people with Citizens United) that will save us all! :beerhere:

We have the rate hikes in my last post already, time to bring you some more Seasons cheer! This is what Marsha Blackburn(a few posts ago I put links about this woman fucking up Google Fiber) from Tennessee is trying to get put into law:

The law they're trying to put through, from this article.
1. "to prohibit blocking of lawful content"
It means the fast lanes people are talking about. This is the phrase Comcast and their ilk are using nowadays("lawful content"). We'll all get a baseline speed, and get charged for extra if you want more than that.
2. "to limit the authority of the Federal Communications Commission"
All of their big talk prior to this NN repeal was about how the FCC&FTC would protect you from ISP abuse since it was being de-regulated by them. Those "protections" they put in that bill are a joke, when you consider how the FCC handled itself in regards to its comment fraud investigation.
3. "to preempt State law"
Looky there, they're going to try and make it so individual states can't make their own ISP related laws to allow small communities to install/regulate new ISPs/their own ISP. There goes that whole "but mah competition" bullshit.
