I have no problem with aow but I would like it if the time limit was 45 minutes instead of 30. That could be my inner marathon coming out; I feel like 30 is too short. I think n00bstories had 45 min matches.

The same logic is applied to marathon games though, its kind of the luck of the draw when it comes to teams, especially on non-base defense maps.

Why can't people just enjoy the variety. If we switch to one over the other we are going to lose players that enjoying their style of gaming. I don't know why we keep having this debate.

Jesselol sums my opinion up nicely. Also I seem to notice a pattern of snipers preferring marathon over aow. 

 

About loosing or winning, it's quite easy really. People in a team that works together usually win. A team that get tanks and has 1 or 2 decent snipers next to that usually wins. That's the same in aow and marathon. 

 

But the way you play the game with those units is different in aow and marathon. And that's what's called diversity. It needs encouragement, not being removed.

Also I know you like to snipe, so I can see how the sniper part would make you a little uneasy, but the fact of the matter is, if half the snipers were in tanks, the games would be a lot shorter. The marathon games usually end when after whoring for a long while, you can finally convince enough people to get tanks to rush, which can in itself be a pain in the ass.

Now THAT I do agree a lot more. For the record I usually get tanks in field AOW while I'll go snipe whore for a while in field mara (for the reasons we both stated earlier).

+1 for the poll, just to see if the "mass whining" we've been noticing earlier comes from a handful of players.

Not sure why this is even a thing. Look at those stats I posted(even if the lower game mode section is skewed). It is mostly marathon games, but you barely get them over an hour nowadays. Lastnight's 5.5 hour under was kind of fun.

Thats because once an hour has passed, polls are available, and most times people spam polls until it goes through. Never understood why aow % triggering AND polls after 1 hour marathon games exist together. Should be one of them, but not both, since the only thing harmed is marathon mode. Or at least make polls available after 2 hours, since 1 hour games can't even be considered half marathon. It's more like an aow that took it's time.

I like both but after 4 hours of under or field I'm out. I don't want to play a map that long. But that's just my 2 cents. I say leave it as is. But wouldn't mind seeing a max time of 4 or 5 hours.

Yesterday's under took 8.5 hours. No thanks. That's one reason why I'm not a huge fan of marathon. Games taking way too long and nothing is happening. Just a stalemate.

Yes it was 8.5 hours and NOD did win, but only after a vote for suddendeath passed. I got over 1k ladder points yay :D

Everyone on the forums seems to like things the way they are or atleast with minimal complaints. Like I said, there are a handful of players complaining about it ingame that I told to make a post about it and they havent. Dont worry about it tho, I only posted this so those ppl wouldnt have a legitimate reason to complain. But in my experience (not just in Renegade), people will always complain about something. Even if you remove AOW, those ppl will find new complaints.

no one has time to play 8 hours straight these days which is why long running maps are less appealing, anyone who plays for the whole 8 hours must be having fun :), marathon is supposed to be played until total base destruction (without using suddendeath)

suddendeath/powerdown sucks and kills the player count within 1 or 2 maps after :(

rather than having random AOW why not have it set to every 3 or so maps? every map on the server will be played in AOW mode within 3 rotations, also remove the suddendeath/powerdown polls completely.
