Mine limit

Hey all. Just thought i'd post a topic about the mine limit. I have been hearing other's in game say it'll be real handy if the mine limit was 60 instead of 50! I happen to agree, it just falls a bit short on most maps. I think 60 is a fair limit. What does everyone think? I have been playing rene since it came out and most servers i played in the past like Cloud have a limit of 120 ( although 120 is a bit of a stretch)

 

I think if enough people want 60 it might happen!

I have been playing since 2003 and most servers I played on had it at the standard 30 mines limit. This always seemed fine to me because it forces you to choose between buildings to defend and opens the game a bit. I've learned to get used to the 50 mines which make it easier to defend. I don't see why we would up this ever more. Eventually people will start using them to defend against stank rushes because they have so many to spare. This isn't what mines were made for I think.

I think 50 is borderline too high.

Well i mean i remember when there used to be just 10 mines on some servers :p

but 60 mines wouldn't bother me but it may make it a lot harder for some people to get anywhere, it would be a patience game

lets take tomb for example, if you mine with 60 mines, 20 on the tunnel, 20 on one entrance of the base and 20 on the other.

the only way for someone to get in will be to suicide it :p

but i'd definitely like to see what other people think about this

i prefer 30/35 tbh

def. against making it higher then it is now though...

If you throw 5 mines on every door on City,  that still only equals 45 mines..... and that's for GDI. If this was Nod, it would equate to 40 mines...

People need to be smarter. One person needs to mine the entire base. And that person should not try to throw mines on the ceiling and miss and have 3 random mines on the floor outside the building.

Instead, if you want to have some fun... leave the mine limit at 50 for GDI and reduce it to 40 for Nod to help counteract the imbalance of one team having invisible characters and the other not.

I don't know  60 is a lot i think lower # makes you have to plan mine placement.

I've always loved the configurable limit and find 50 to be the best sweet spot. I even tweaked it further per map back in the day to make some of the maps with more buildings a slightly higher limit and ones with less buildings lower. I believe that makes 50 a good compromise.

Well, how about this calculation each game?

per building 2 exits, = 5 per exit = 10 per building

Agt /ob = 5 or 10 aswell. 

Besides, Maybe there should be a notice when minelimit is reached. Is that something that could be usefull>?
